Family and Medical Leave Act

The Family and Medical Leave Act allows certain employees to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave for the birth and care of a newborn child, the adoption or foster care placement of a child, the serious health condition of an immediate family member, or the serious health condition of the employee. At the conclusion of the leave, the employer must return the employee to the same or equivalent position with the same pay and benefits.

This is only a brief explanation of the Family and Medical Leave Act. If you have questions about whether you are covered by this law and/or your rights have been violated, you should consult with an attorney.
